Developed by MachineGames and published by Bethesda Softworks, Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot is the latest release within this extremely popular gaming franchise. As fans will already expect, they are able to embrace the same type of first-person shooter (FPS) experience that has come to define the entire Wolfenstein series of games. However, the inclusion of a virtual reality headset should take thrills and chills to the next level. It seems that the majority of the plot takes place in occupied territory during the Second World War. Once again, the protagonist is set to do battle with hordes of Nazi invaders.

The Addition of Mechanical Elements

The title of this game already hints at the main objective. Players will be able to equip themselves with a number of cybernetic machines as opposed to power-up weapons alone. One of these units is known as a “Panzerhund” (literally “tank hound”). This machine is said to mimic the appearance of a large dog that is able to shoot flames from its mouth.

One interesting aspect of Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot is that players are not necessarily restricted to linear paths of movement. They can instead enjoy 180-degree action as well as the ability to strafe from side to side in relation to where the enemies are located. It should also be pointed out that this game is not defined by battles behind different machines (such as an many “mech warfare” genres. It is instead a slower-paced FPS platform with plenty of room for movement. Users will need to employ the HTC Vive headset. It has not yet been confirmed whether other modules such as the Oculus Rift will be compatible.

A Cinematic Experience

The developers of Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot have heavily focused upon immersive and realistic graphics; particularly when referring to the flamethrower and the plethora of other weapons that can be obtained. Cinematic cutscenes are also extremely detailed; a massive benefit within the world of virtual reality. Formidable bosses, innumerable enemies and challenging fields of battle await. No release date has been confirmed, but it is thought that the game will be made public sometime in late 2018 or early 2019.
