Metal Gear Survive is a survival horror action-adventure game slated for release in late February 2018. It will be the next instalment of Konami’s successful and highly popular Metal Gear series, and the first released since 2015’s Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The action will take place between Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. It will also be the first game in the series to be released since Metal Gearcreator Hideo Kojima left Konami in 2015, leading to some uncertain anticipation on the part of the series’ fans. The game will be released for PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.
Like other Metal Gear games, this one will be a third-person action adventure shooter. Gameplay features two modes. The principal story missions take place in solo mode, allowing the player to explore the world and learn the game’s mechanics, face monsters, and build a base camp. Those skills can then be put to the test in an online cooperative multiplayer mode, in which the player may join forces with up to three other human players to complete missions. The game uses Konami’s Fox Engine, so the gameplay mechanics will be familiar to players of earlier instalments in the franchise.
The game takes place in an alternate reality from the main series. It picks up after the end of Ground Zeroes. During the evacuation of Big Boss from a besieged Mother Base, a mysterious wormhole opens in the sky. Soldiers are sucked into it to find themselves on a world beset by a mysterious infection and crawling with strange, mutated creatures. The player finds himself sent back to that world, to trace the source of the infection and find a way to deal with it
